Parent Support and Skills Training Group (Via Zoom)

Parent support groups provide healthy parenting skills, an increased sense of empowerment, and a feeling of belonging. Moreover, parenting support groups can be particularly helpful for parents of clients who are coping with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Presenter: Melissa Doney, LAC, NCC, SAC Dates: Saturdays from 9:30 - 10:45 am (PT) /12:30 -1:45 pm (ET) 1/16, 2/20, 3/20, 4/17, 5/22, 6/19 Focus: This group will help parents learn self-care, self-monitoring and other skills needed for effective parenting; it will complement the behavior meetings designed to help parents understand and shape their child’s behavior. This group will be held to provide a venue for parents to gain support from one another. This venue will also enable the sharing of resources as well as a strong emphasis on parent self-care. The participants will learn: Short-term strategies designed to help cope during moments of overwhelming distress How to increase positive emotions and decrease negative ones for effective problem-solving Assertiveness and communication skills to improve relationships and set appropriate limits All workshops will be held via Zoom.
